Invitation – Your participation to the workshop of Friday within the EABF 22
INVITATION
The National Chamber Network of Greek Women Entrepreneurs (EEDEGE), the Hellenic-African Chamber of Commerce and Development and the Hellenic-Kenyan Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Development, Tourism and Culture invite you to the online workshop entitled “Women agri-food business in Africa and Europe: benefits in the economy and the sustainable development by promoting the geographical indications as best practices” to be held on Friday 18 February 2022, 10:00-11:30 CET. The event is organized in the context of the EU-Africa Business Forum (EU-Africa Business Forum / EABF22, 14-18.02.2022) and is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Rural Development and Food of Greece.
The main goal of the event is to highlight the relevant, in the field of agri-food, women entrepreneurship in Africa – Greece/Europe by promoting mainly products that either enjoy or need geographical indications’ protection (quality branded products -PDO,PGI,Gis- with particular characteristics related to their geographical origin), as well as its contribution to the local and national economy. Moreover the workshop will feature: a) actions of the AfrIPI programme funded and coordinated by the EU in order to provide know-how on the Intellectual Property Rights including the GIs, through best practices from EU and around the world, as well as the African approach for creating and promoting certification systems in particular for the protection of quality local products; b) success stories of women entrepreneurs from African countries and Greece; c) opportunities for financing women business in the agri-food sector in Africa and Greece.
Given the increased awareness of the public opinion and the agri-food professionals on the benefits of branded products with protection of origin, opportunities for business cooperation among African/ Greek-European women entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector (including sharing knowledge and networking development) will be explored, focusing on new challenges in achieving sustainable goals locally and at national and international levels.
The presence of speakers from Africa, Greece-EU will contribute to an extended dialogue exploring in parallel eventual African-European synergies with mutually beneficial results.
